Placecast is a travel audio guide. This policy explains what information the app uses and why.

Location

Placecast uses precise location to find nearby landmarks, plan routes, and identify stories ahead during an active Drive mode. Coordinates are sent to the Placecast service and its mapping or places providers to return relevant results. Background location is used only while Drive mode is active. Placecast does not sell location data.

Search, listening, and diagnostics

Search terms, anonymous story interactions, and technical diagnostics may be processed to provide results, improve reliability, and understand aggregate feature use. Placecast does not require an account. A random app identifier stored on your device may be used for saved stories and anonymous interactions.

Microphone and speech recognition

If you choose voice consent, the app listens briefly for a yes or no response. Apple speech-recognition services may process that response. Placecast does not use the microphone unless you enable this feature.

Service providers

Placecast relies on hosting, mapping, places, speech, and factual-data providers to operate. These providers process only the information needed to deliver their services and are subject to their own privacy terms.

Retention and control

Listening history and downloaded route audio are stored on your device and can be cleared by removing the app. Operational server logs and anonymous interaction records are retained only as needed for security, reliability, and aggregate product improvement.

Children

Placecast is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
